EverQuest II’s Head of Studio Jenn Chan has a brand new update on the progress the team has made since releasing a 2022 roadmap earlier this year. Chan reviews what they’ve delivered and also announces upcoming features, including a brand new Time-Locked Expansion server: Varsoon and the arrival of 64-bit servers.
The 2022 roadmap promised that Kaladim would see the Age of Discovery unlocked with the addition of new areas, The Withered Lands and Sky Sanctum in January. This, as well as improvements for the test server, have been made. The February server merge and the new Lore and Legend server, which happened to be Kael Drakkel, were also goals achieved. March has promised the Chronoportal Phenomenon, with updates for when this event returns. It all happened as planned.
We’re now into April, and Game Update 119, Chests and Coffins, is on the way next week on April 12. The update will include Season 4 of Overseer, including changes to the Overseer minigame. There will be new heroic dungeons, collections, raids, and crafting content in the update. You can test the update in open beta now.
In May there will be a new Time-Locked Expansion server. Varsoon will operate primarily like Kaladim but will use free trade rules. There will be more information to come on the intricacies of how this will work and a firm date soon.
Summer updates will include 64-bit servers and the new client, both of which are currently in open beta. The official update is tentatively scheduled for July. Also this summer, new Pride Pets for the LGBTQIA+ community will debut on June 3 for Pride Month.
Summer will also bring a number of returning events, including Tinkerfest, Scorched Sky Celebration, and Oceansfull Festival, all of which will see new updates.
EverQuest IIThe 19th expansion is also already in the works, and while it will be a while before we get any reveals since the expansion is expected to arrive at the end of the year, they are already working on it.
