India joins the G20 “Troika” comprising the current, previous and incoming presidencies: The Tribune India

India officially joined the G20 troika on Wednesday which includes Indonesia, Italy and India – the current, previous and future presidencies of the G20, respectively, a press release from the MEA said.

The G20 is the first global forum for international economic cooperation and its summit is organized in turn by each of its members. Italy has just hosted the G-20 summit while Indonesia will host it next year. India is expected to be the host in 2023.

“As a founding member of the G20, India has used the platform to raise issues of vital importance and those impacting the world’s most vulnerable,” MEA said.

Indonesia has assumed the chairmanship of the G20 and will convene various G20 meetings throughout the year, culminating with the G20 Leaders‘ Summit on October 30 and 31, 2022, under the overall theme “Recover Together Recover Stronger”.

“As a member of the Troika, India will work closely with Indonesia and Italy to ensure consistency and continuity of the G20 agenda,” the statement said.

India will assume the presidency of the G20 on December 1, 2022, from Indonesia, and will convene the G20 Leaders’ Summit for the first time in India in 2023.
