Lin Wood – lawyer closely linked to Trump – permanently banned from Twitter after claiming Capitol Siege was “staged”

Top line

L. Lin Wood, a lawyer and QAnon supporter closely linked to Trump who recently pushed himself in the spotlight by pushing wild conspiracy theories on the election and filing frivolous lawsuits on behalf of the president, was permanently suspended by Twitter on Wednesday after suggesting that the mob’s takeover of the Capitol had been staged.

Wood’s account returned a “account suspended” message and Twitter confirmed the ban in an email to Forbes Thursday.

Twitter did not comment on what prompted the suspension, but a archive Wood’s tweets on Wednesday show the lawyer falsely suggesting the coup was “staged” by antifa.

He had also pursued a deranged attack on Vice President Mike Pence, accusing him of being a traitor and a Communist, among others.

Last week Wood also had called for Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Pence to be arrested for treason and for Pence to “be executed by firing squad”.

The lawyer pushed increasingly lopsided conspiracy theories after the election, including alleging Chief Justice John Roberts was somehow linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in a bizarre tweet tirade.

Wood’s Twitter biography included the acronym for a popular QAnon slogan: “Where we go one, we all go.”

What to watch out for

After being banned by Twitter, Wood took to Speak to again demand that Pence be executed by a firing squad. “Prepare the firing squad,” Wood wrote in an article on Speak. “Pence goes FIRST.” Wood did not immediately respond to Forbes‘request for comment Thursday.

Trump has ties to Wood: he meet with the Oval Office lawyer last year, and Wood Recount the New York Times last month he and the president discussed “fraud and illegality” more than once in the election. The president recently praised the lawyer for doing a “good job” in Georgia as he tried to overturn the elections.

Wood first gained notoriety after representing Richard Jewell, a security guard falsely accused of planting the bomb in Centennial Olympic Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He went on to represent several prominent personalities in libel lawsuits. In 2011 he represented former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain in a sexual misconduct trial.

Crucial quote

“I am now posting on Twitter @FightBackLaw until [Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey] the Commie is lifting my suspension tomorrow, ”Wood wrote in an article on Speaking early Thursday morning. The @FightBackLaw account also returned a “account suspended” message on Twitter on Wednesday. There is no indication that Twitter intends to lift Wood’s suspension. The platform said Forbes the ban was final.

Wednesday, the platform temporarily suspended the president and deleted two of his tweets.
