Preparations for G20 summit still underway: Foreign Minister

We commend the strong support of all G20 members.

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Preparations for the G20 summit scheduled for November 2022 in Bali are still underway, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said on Thursday.

One of the steps the minister has taken ahead of the G20 summit is to exchange notes with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati about the G20 foreign ministers meeting held earlier this month. and the meeting of G20 finance ministers held last week.

“Since the two meetings, we have tried to launch the preparations for the G20 summit more intensively,” Marsudi told an online press briefing.

G20 member countries’ support for Indonesia’s G20 presidency has been echoed at the two G20 ministerial meetings, she said.

“We commend the strong support of all G20 members,” she added.

Preparations for the G20 summit include infrastructure and logistics, protocol and security, and health services.

As Southeast Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia is responsible for contributing to efforts to make Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region peaceful, stable and prosperous, Marsudi said.

“Amid a global situation plagued by unhealthy rivalry and increasingly declining multilateralism, Indonesia will be more active in promoting cooperation and spreading the spirit of solidarity and peace.” , she added.

According to Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, preparations for the G20 summit should be completed by the third or fourth week of October this year.

Uno affirmed that the preparations are proceeding as planned.

The G20 is a forum for multilateral cooperation made up of 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). G0 members represent more than 60% of the world’s population, 75% of world trade and 80% of world gross domestic product (GDP).
