R Gopalan appointed Chairman of the Board of Sundaram-Clayton Limited

Chennai (Tamilnadu) [India]February 11 (ANI/NewsSee): Sundaram-Clayton Limited (SCL), a leading automotive component manufacturing and distribution group, announced R Gopalan, the company’s independent non-executive director, as chairman of the board of directors as of April 1, 2022.
Gopalan has a wealth of experience in the country’s economic and financial administration with long stints in the Ministry of Commerce and Finance, and in the manufacturing and service sectors.
Effective April 1, 2022, Venu Srinivasan will continue as the company’s Chief Executive Officer designated as Chairman Emeritus.

Commenting on the appointment, Venu Srinivasan, Chairman of Sundaram-Clayton Ltd. said, “On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome R Gopalan as Chairman of Sundaram-Clayton Limited effective April 1, 2022. .
Gopalan has held critical roles in key government bodies and councils. His long history of leadership coupled with vast experience will be helpful in charting a sustainable growth roadmap for SCL. I am confident he will provide invaluable guidance to the business going forward.”
As an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, Gopalan served in various senior positions including serving as a member of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) under the Prime Minister until April 2016. Prior to his retirement , he served as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India till 03 July 2012. He dealt with issues related to Capital Markets, Infrastructure Finance, G-20, the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He is also a board member of several other companies and brings a lot of advisory advice to the board in its deliberations.
