In his own statement, Kolasinac expressed his optimism that he will be able to help his former club achieve their goals for the season.

“I am very happy and proud to be able to put on the Schalke shirt again with immediate effect. The club is currently in a very difficult situation. In the weeks and months to come, I want to do my part to help us get as many points as possible.”

“Together we will manage to stay in the championship,” continued Kolasinac, “I am 100% convinced of that. My contact with Schalke has never ceased. A return to Gelsenkirchen is an opportunity to follow my heart.”

The new acquisition will have to wait until round 15 to make his debut for the club. While it is presumed he will have to fill a leadership role, the club have been careful to point out that Omar Mascarell will remain as the team’s captain.
