Beijing Airport Economic Zone attracts businesses from all over the world for its huge development potential

Located in the hinterland of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei cluster and enjoying the comprehensive transportation facilities of aviation, highways and railways, Beijing Daxing International Airport is the engine of development in the region.

The airport’s annual passenger throughput is estimated at 72 million in 2025, according to the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone Administrative Committee.

The airport’s annual cargo and mail throughput is expected to reach 4 million metric tons over the next few years.

The Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone, with an overall control area of ​​about 1,028 square kilometers and a core area of ​​about 150 square kilometers, is the only advantage zone in the country that has benefited from zone policies. free trade agreement of a province and a municipality at the same time.

Of the core area of ​​150 km2, about 100 km2 is in Langfang, Hebei Province, and the Daxing part in Beijing covers 50 km2, which is further divided into two areas.

The eastern area of ​​the airport is 24 km², with a comprehensive bonded area, an international aviation community, an international convention and exhibition center, an international consumer center, an international school and a central ecological park.

While the eastern area emphasizes conference and exhibition services, as well as international consumption, the International Convention and Exhibition Center is expected to cover 400,000 m² of indoor exhibition area and the international consumption is expected to span 57 hectares, a rare large-scale commercial development in Beijing, according to the economic zone.

The western zone covers 26 km2 and includes health services, an international talent community, a science and technology innovation zone and a hospital.

On this 50 km2 section of Beijing’s economic zone, an airport economy is emerging to promote the region’s sustainable development, with the life and health industry as the leading sector, hub services and aviation support positioned as the two pillar industries, along with next-generation information technology and smart equipment being prepared as complementary industries for future development.

As the only area in Beijing that incorporates the favorable policies of a free trade zone, the Zhongguancun Science Park and the city’s expansion into opening up the service industry, the Beijing branch of the area attracts investors and entrepreneurs.

The economic zone has an extensive transportation network, including a high-speed railway linking the airport to Xiong’an New Area in Hebei and a subway line running through the airport, which extends over more than 40 km, including about 33 km in Daxing. district.

The convenient rail transportation has further cemented the economic zone’s position as one of the pioneers in promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. This will also be one of the benefits of starting a business in the area.

The administrative committee also established an invitation list for ideas, targeting more than 400 leading companies, promoting the development of the two complexes – the International Convention and Exhibition Center and the International Consumer Pole – and planning four major industrial zones. : an intelligent logistics zone college complex, an international aviation community and an international life and health community.

The airport economic zone will build six major industrial parks: International Aviation Headquarters Park, Life Medicine Incubator, International Shopping Complex, Regenerative Medicine Innovation Industrial Park, innovation of free trade and intelligent manufacturing park of medical equipment.

All these industrial and trade platforms are expected to help attract global investment and business and promote international cooperation, according to policymakers in the economic zone.

Building on the two complexes as well as industrial zones and parks, the Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone creates a diverse, open and international environment, and kicks off the construction of a leading global aviation city. , aiming to become a new growth pole.

This year, Beijing and Hebei jointly launched 32 real estate development projects, seeking partners from all over the world.

Among the pending projects from global partners, 19 are located in the Beijing part, including the International Aviation Headquarters Park, an Aviation Science and Technology Park and the Medical Equipment Intelligent Manufacturing Park.

The Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone attaches great importance to attracting international investment and has taken action around the world, said Zhu Tianzhu, an official of the administrative committee of the economic zone.

To better promote itself overseas, the economic zone has established representative offices in targeted regions and countries, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, the UK and Singapore. The Middle East office is located in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

To date, more than 2,790 companies are registered with the economic zone and nearly 50 of them are foreign-owned.

Innovative incubation projects such as Aige Stem Cell, Shanghai Cell and Sino Valley have already landed in the zone’s innovation center.

Projects in the areas of life and health have started construction, and the economic zone is advancing another group of projects focused on the aviation industry, such as the Civil Aviation Airworthiness Certification Center.

Government data shows more than 200 companies each declared at least 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) in registered capital. Their combined registered capital reached 71.4 billion yuan.

The latest initiative was the inauguration on July 19 of two industrial parks for life sciences and medical equipment, which focus on cooperation with Germany and Europe respectively.

The two parks will help more European healthcare companies set up shop in China and boost the economic zone’s international profile, Zhu said.

Wang Youguo, Party Secretary of Daxing District, told a press conference that moving to Beijing may be the first choice for international businesses and professionals, while investing in Daxing is investing in the future of China and the world.
